Switched over to Optus and couldn't be happier. My previous provider had poor technical support and inconsistent speeds

The online customer service operators are working multiple customers at once, and it takes a long time to get what you're after.

I can’t say their cost cutting works for customers. They are losing my interest to engage with them.

Optus is obviously a huge brand. So you get both the pros and cons of that situation.
The pros are the glossy website, the high street presence, the stock availability when you need a modem and the efficient delivery times. Once you're signed up, the internet arrives and works efficiently.
In my experience, though, the con of being with a big, faceless company is the 'call centre hell' you find yourself in when something goes wrong. I have spent hours trying to have simple issues resolved - being passed from person to person and having to offer up my security details every time the call is transferred.
I've had situations where I've put in over an hour of this and then been hung up on. It's driven me crazy.
In fairness, there is now an option to do it all through a chat function. This is definitely better as you can get on with other things between messages. It still seems to take literal hours to get anything done though.
I came from iiNet who have an awesome call centre, and I'll be going back to iiNet when teh opportunity arises.

Upon moving house I needed a new modem and plan, however the incorrect order was placed twice over the phone over 8 week - once the correct order was finally placed, we received it quickly & it all works well

Good service easy and reliable

5G wireless service from Optus is good. They offer free 5G device subject to committing to plan.
Being wireless its sometimes hard to get the best signal strength however, myoptus app helps in identifying the best location to place the device to receive max signals.
Additionally for the first month a dedicated technician is allocated who consistently checks if the service is running fine. So far i am having a good experience with Optus 5G wireless Broadband.
